One thing you can definitely find on Etsy is jewelry. It is the category that has the most items on Etsy which means the most competition. Searching for something you’re looking for can take a long time due to the pages and pages of results that will come up for you. While Etsy is overloaded with jewelry, it is also overloaded with some great artists and great products. You will see pieces you just fall in love with and things you didn’t even know where possible with jewelry. Valerie Tyler is a great example of quality products on Etsy and she has been around long enough to have an idea of what she is doing – look at her sales!

Tell us a little about yourself.
I am a jewelry designer who also happens to be a full-time teacher. I live near a national park, in a suburb of Cleveland and therefore have an interesting dichotomy of both natural and industrial influences.
When did you first start making handmade products?
Over 10 years ago I did the whole “play with beads” thing, and took a jewelry course in college. I started my official jewelry business though about 3 years ago after I got married and finished grad school. I’ve sold on Etsy for a little over 2 years.
What makes your products unique?
My products are a unique blend of modern aesthetic with influences of nature. I like to combine sleek geometric patterns with the more gentler shapes of natural elements.
What item are you most proud of?
I think right now my favorite item is my Butterflies in Flight necklace, as the piece is entirely handsawn, and I think the 3D nature of it came out well. http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=34479295
What’s your goal for the upcoming year?
I’d like to double the zen nature collection with a lot more handsawn pieces, and come up with some more interesting 3 dimensional metalwork ideas. I’d also really like enough money to save up for a kiln so I can play with some PMC or enamel. In addition it would be nice to successfully get through art show application time. That’s always a lot of work!

Why should someone buy your products?
My products are a perfect match for someone who wants quality, handmade jewelry, at a fair price. In addition some pieces can be quite sizable and eye catching, or petite and simple enough for everyday wear.
