Either this was created by a few geeks that have nothing to do but sit in their parent’s basements trying to think this stuff up, or it is genius. I think it is art. It takes a lot of time and creativity to be able to do something like this. Even if it is a bit random. It’ll make you smile though.

Kelly Featured Seller – dspdavey
November 26th, 2009
Kelly I’m revamping my Featured Seller series of blog posts to try and show off my fellow artisans. I’ve asked my featured sellers to give me responses to a few questions so you can not only read what I think about their shop, but you can also get a little info directly from them. If you’d like to be featured please visit this forum thread to get all the details.
So now, check out the Two Cheeky Monkeys shop (love the name by the way):

Tell us a little about yourself.
I am a stay-at-home mum of two little ones and I used to work as a research scientist. I have always loved to craft (my mum is rather arty and my dad is quite creative too) and besides making jewellery, love to sew and make paper craft of various sorts.
When did you first start making handmade products?
I have been making handmade products for years but didn’t start doing this seriously until I had my kids and wanted a way to entertain myself (and them) at home. It took over a year of making presents for friends and family before they convinced me that I should try selling my jewelery.
What makes your products unique?
I think the eclectic nature of the pieces I make is what makes them unique. I love to use vintage beads and findings but also frequently use more modern beads in my work too. And I love to mix up modern and vintage beads/findings within the same piece. Many of my pieces are OOAK too.
What item are you most proud of?
Oooh, that’s a hard one. I think that depends on my mood and how I’m being inspired at the time. I am currently love the Margarita necklaces, but I think the Tabitha choker is the one I love the best as the idea has been in my head for a while, I just needed the time to sit down and make it!

What’s your goal for the upcoming year?
My goal is to get to more markets next year (I’m doing my first one next week) as well as to get better at promoting my store. I would also love to start blogging but am not sure I’m ready for that yet.
Why should someone buy your products?
I’d like to think that my jewellery and accessories are well-made pieces at reasonable prices. I shop around to make sure that I get the best quality supplies at the best prices, which benefits my customers! Also, 10% of profits from each sale goes to Tear Australia, an aid and advocacy organization working in the developing world.
Here’s your chance to pimp your online persona (Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, etc.).

Anything else we should know?
I’m very friendly and love to receive convos and Tweets from my customers or people just wanting to say hi. The pieces in my store can often be re-made with a different metal finish or in a different colour scheme or size. All customers need to do is convo me or send me an alchemy request
I am also open to custom orders in quantity, say for a bridal party!
There are some great pieces in this shop! I’ve posted pictures through this entry of a new of my favorites. There are some great items and tons of variety since there are over 100 items. All reasonably priced so you can afford to buy a gift for the holidays and then maybe treat yourself to something special too! I am also very excited that she managed to not only sell her items but also give to a great organization as well. This makes me want to do the same – I have to find a charity that I’m passionate about…
Thank you so much for being a featured seller!! Make sure you check out this shop and help to not only show support of a great artisan but also a great charity.

Kelly My husband happened to have perfect timing one day and managed to catch both of the boys mid-yawn. But it could look like they are ready to take a bite.

Turkey Weekend Super Sales!!
November 23rd, 2009
Kelly It is almost Thanksgiving and not only does that mean amazing food and turkey comas, but it also means the start (or for some end) of the holiday shopping season! Etsy is doing a lot of promotion of the upcoming weekend. Here are a few hints if you haven’t seen the forum posts from the admins.
- Etsyfreeshipping – tons of Etsy sellers are offering free worldwide shipping from Black Friday through Cyber Monday. The Etsy admins are scouring to find items with the tag “etsyfreeshipping”. They’ll be doing some gift guides and Etsy Finds emails throughout the weekend for those that are tagged. Get them tagged now as they are looking now! They’ll also be looking at tweets with the hashtags #Etsyfreeshipping. So make sure to promote your items this weekend through Twitter!
- Etsyholidaysale – along the same lines, the admins will also be looking at items with this tag. Could be a discount or free items, added bonuses, etc. Make sure you tag your items and use your hashtags! #Etsyholidaysale
- I happen to belong to the CCCOE Street Team. They have their own sale and promos going – so I have all of my items tagged with “CCCOE Black Friday” as well. Members are planning to promote and create treasuries based on this tag.
For sellers this is a chance to try and gain some sales through slow times. For myself, I’m trying to get ANY sales. I haven’t had a lot of sales since I started so I’m trying to push to get some new customers, or at least some interest.
Here is what I have going on in my shop right now:
- Free Worldwide Shipping
- 10% off EVERYTHING in the store
- 6 FREE ROSES with purchase of any dozen rose bouquet
- Additional 10% off if you are a twitter follower and mention it in your buyer comments.
Right now my prices are listed at normal price. If you make a purchase I can either refund you through paypal or you can let me know what you want ahead of time and I can create a listing with your discount before you buy it. Buy some flowers for your home or for someone you love this holiday season!

Kelly Yeah…so if you haven’t noticed, it isn’t exactly Thursday, which is when I do my featured seller post. It was a very crazy week at work and lots going on this weekend, so…here I am trying to get out of the deep end on a Sunday night. I apologize this didn’t get out sooner – sooooo….
Welcome Meredith! She runs an Etsy store for friendship bracelets. Remember when you were in junior high and made bracelets with colored string? Yep, that’s what she makes! A trip down memory lane for me and definitely to fond memories! Apparently things have changed a bit in the last 15 years or so as she has some cool designs that I’m not quite sure how she does, like this one for example. And at only $4 it wouldn’t hurt you to pick up a few.

She even makes them in pairs so that you and your BFF can have matching bracelets to show your love for one another.

This one looks a lot more complicated than I remember. Like I said, much has changed over the years, this looks like a lot of work and is still only $6!

Want different colors? Just let her know! Feel like this takes away from the experience of making them for a friend? She also does kits. All the materials along with instructions so you and your BFF can make your bracelets together instead!
These could make great stocking stuffers for Christmas so hurry in and check out her shop!
I was mentioned on a blog!!

Kelly A Look On The Random Side is a blog run by an old friend of mine from high school. We’re facebook friends, but otherwise we’ve pretty much lost touch over the last decade or so. Imagine my surprise when she sent me a message that she had posted a blog entry on my flowers!
Here’s what she had to say:

Perfectly Paper – Handmade Flowers
I hate to put a disclaimer, but I must: I was in no way compensated/persuaded/asked to do this post. I just wanted to share something amazing with my readers, ‘k?
A friend of mine from high school recently started her own business, Perfectly Paper – Handmade Flowers. At first I read her description and thought, “oh, paper flowers…whatev,” thinking they’d be something like the tissue paper flowers we used to make in school…but then I took a look at her product and my jaw dropped.
Take a look at this photo and tell me I’m wrong.
I have never seen hand-painted paper roses look so realistic in my entire life. I wish she was doing this three years ago so I could have bought my wedding bouquet from her. The whole reason I didn’t go with more flowers for my wedding was because of the waste – you spend a ton of money on something that dies a few days later. And you all know how I feel about things that are handmade!
Take a look at her website or her Etsy site. In addition to the amazing flowers you’ll see her new line of greeting cards.
(Seriously…what can’t this girl do?)
Thank you SO much for posting about me!! I appreciate it more than you know. Let’s hope that the flower business picks up because I’m feeling pretty wilted lately.
