Tim over at Handmadeology gives the very easy to follow instructions for how to create the html code for the treasury you wish to share, and as you could see from my post yesterday, the treasury is completely click-able, which is very cool.   Now we can all create beautiful treasuries and share!  Tim also tells you how to add the treasuries to your Facebook Fan Page, which is a bit more complicated, but still pretty cool.  Check out the details for the Facebook piece here.

Simple install instructions:

1. First find a treasury you want to feature.

2. Locate the Etsy Treasury ID

3.  Head over to Etsy treasury HTML code generator

4. Copy and paste the Etsy Treasury id number in the box.

5. Pick what you want the layout of the treasury you want.  You can pick different number of columns and the size of the pictures.

6. Hit the generate code button and your preview and code will show below.

7.  Here is what the Treasury html will look like.  Click in the box and hit “control a” to ensure you copy all the code.

8.  Head over to your blog and paste the code where you want the treasury to show up.  Make sure you are in the html tab before you paste your code.

Tell us a bit about yourself and how you came to be an Etsy crafter?
I’m Susana, a 28 years old Portuguese, born in the beautiful Lisbon, where I still live, in a historic part of the city.
I worked a few years with tiles and restoration ( I still do a bit), but I’m starting to work as an illustrator. I’m already starting to work internationaly, to Japan. It’s great!
I’ve heard about Etsy through other blogs, and first started as a buyer and then opened my jewelry shop. I started taking jewelry more seriously in my late teens. Almost everyone says they started making jewelry for friends and then for selling, but for me it was the other way around. I looked at jewelry as a opportunity business, still making something I enjoyed. Later also opened my illustration shop.

What makes your products better than your competition?
I would not dare to say my products are better that the competition, there are such amazing artists out there!
I always try to make something different, yet with quality and I love to experiment with diverse medias. My work is very colourful.

What item are you most proud of?
Hard question…I’m proud of both my In Stitches and Clay Collections. I loved to make the metal sewing machine bobbins necklace and all that as a bit of illustration on it!

What do you do when you aren’t crafting?
I spend my time with my cute and insane dog Mingas, hang out with my friends, read and listen to music a lot. I even like to watch horror movies, (the first I saw as a kid was ‘Nosferatu’) but then for a few hours, especially if it is night, I’m scared of my own shadow! I love to cook, and I’m quite good at it! I really like to go out for a walk by myself and find it very inspirational to observe other people.

As I mentioned earlier this month I’m starting some awareness bouquets that a portion of the proceeds will be given to various charities for diseases that have affected my family or close friends.  September marks the first of these, as it is Hodgkin’s Disease Awareness Month and also Liver Cancer Awareness Month.  My father suffered from Hodgkin’s Disease when I was young and has since been in remission and I recently lost my Grandma to Liver Cancer earlier this summer.  This bouquet signifies the awareness colors for both of these causes, and I’ll be giving 10% of all proceeds earned from the sale of this bouquet to these two charities.

If you have a friend or family member that has suffered from either of these causes, if you’ve lost someone to them, or if you’re just passionate about bringing awareness to these terrible diseases, I encourage you to purchase this bouquet for yourself, a family member or a friend to help brighten someone’s day.

This week I’ve been trying to gain some order to my business, my craft area, my files, everything.  I’ve also been trying to focus on my online presence when it comes to my business, trying to get more involved in the blogging community, getting my name added to promotional sites and contacting local shops for possible opportunities.

Now it’s time to get some order to this blog!  You’ll be seeing some changes in the next week (or two depending on how long it takes me to get everything together).  I’m looking for a new template that can incorporate everything that I’m looking to add to my blog without my poor husband having to create it from scratch.  I’m also looking to add more Etsy tips/tricks to help us all and of course I’ll have to continue posting random videos and kitty photos or else how would I get through the day?!

One thing I know I want to do is get back to featuring fellow Etsy sellers each week.  I think it’s important to showcase others handmade work, especially for those of us that are new and don’t get a lot of attention.  So, let me know if you’re interested!  I’ll be featuring a new Etsy seller each week, showcasing photos and a little of your personality for everyone to see.  If you want to be featured send me a convo through Etsy (so I can keep track of you and can easily find your shop) and provide answers to the following questions that I’ll be posting on my blog:

Being as I haven’t had that many sales, I haven’t really worried about sales tax.  In California I believe you only need to collect sales tax for sales within the state of California (I need to get my facts right!), but it’s up to you if you want to pass that on to your customers or take the hit yourself.  I haven’t decided on that piece yet.  What are you doing regarding your sales tax?

Here is the info from The Storque related to the new sales tax settings:

Starting today, you can go to http://www.etsy.com/your/taxsettings and set tax rates for U.S. states, Canadian provinces, and countries where you would like to collect sales tax. You can also indicate whether the tax rate for each region should apply to shipping charges.

The sales tax settings only apply to the new Checkout, so they won’t affect orders until we ramp up the new Checkout late this week. We’re launching the tax settings today so you have time to set your tax rates before we start to roll out the new Checkout.

When a buyer selects a shipping address that matches a region where you set a tax rate, we’ll automatically apply sales tax to the order based on the rate you set for that region. Sales tax will apply to PayPal and non-PayPal orders in the new Checkout.

If you don’t want us to apply sales tax to any orders, you don’t need to do anything.

While we ramp up the new Checkout, many shoppers will continue to use the old Checkout. We won’t apply sales tax to orders that use the old Checkout. However, if you have sales tax settings at PayPal, PayPal will continue to apply those settings to orders processed through the old Checkout.

If you have sales tax settings at PayPal, the new Checkout will ignore these settings, so make sure you set sales tax rates on Etsy.

We plan to start slowly ramping up the new Checkout late this week, so if you would like to collect sales tax from buyers who use the new Checkout, please set your rates by 12 a.m. EST, Thursday, August 26.

We’ll keep you updated when we start to roll out the new Checkout.

It’s important to note that as a venue, Etsy cannot provide specific tax advice. It’s up to each seller to research their local laws regarding collecting and reporting applicable taxes for Etsy sales. In the United States, tax regulations can vary greatly by location. If you are unsure about the tax laws in your region, we encourage you to consult an accountant or other expert in your area.

To set sales tax rates:

1. Go to http://www.etsy.com/your/taxsettings.
2. Select the U.S. state, Canadian province, or other country from the drop-down lists and click the Add Tax Rate button.
3. Enter the tax rate in the Tax Rate box.
4. Repeat for each additional U.S. state, Canadian province, or other country where you want to collect sales tax. If you want the rate to apply to shipping charges, check the box “Apply rate to shipping.”
5. Click the Save button.

Conrad Maldives Rangali Island’s unique underwater suite includes aquatic scenery from blue-striped snapper, sting rays, parrot fish and moray eels.  A night’s stay will cost you a pretty penny, but what a night it would be!  I don’t know that I could sleep knowing I was being watched by big fish but as long as there aren’t any sharks in there I guess it’d be pretty safe.

I finished the roses yesterday and left them drying on my coffee table.  I planned to curl them, dissect them from their wire and glue them to the magnets.  Instead I came down stairs to find someone had stolen 2 of my mini roses.  Below is the condition of my first blue rose…the purple rose I have yet to find…
